roy Thisler, age 74, passed away at Trust Bridge Hospice in Jupiter, Florida following 43 days of recovery from heart attack, subsequent quintuple bypass and cryoablation. He passed peacefully after feeding his dog Diesel an Okeechobee steakhouse porterhouse, hearing to friends and family telling stories of his adventures, and listening to the oldies music he loved.
Born on June 22, 1951, Troy lived a life defined by service, hard work, and quiet dedication. After completing his college degree in education, he began his career as a firefighter with the Fort Lauderdale Fire Department in 1975. For the next 28 years, Troy served his community with unwavering courage and commitment until his retirement in 2003.
In addition to his firefighting career, Troy founded Troy’s Tree Service, a tree trimming business he managed with pride and diligence. His strong work ethic were evident in all he pursued.
After retiring from the fire department, Troy continued his commitment to public service as a bus driver with Broward County Transit, ensuring others reached their destinations safely and reliably.
Troy will be fondly remembered for his adventurous spirit and love of travel. Having explored 49 states, he embraced the outdoors and the beauty of nature at every turn. Always eager to learn, Troy never shied away from trying new skills—from kiteboarding to unicycling—with infectious enthusiasm. His happiest moments were spent surrounded by family, friends, and his beloved dogs. Over the years, he developed a special bond with rescue dogs, English bull terriers, and bull mastiffs, reflecting his compassionate heart.
Troy is survived by his loving wife, Simone Peter and her children, his children Corrina Thisler-Rand (Henry), Vanessa Thisler, and Troy Thisler (Nathan), from his former marriage to Adiela Thisler (née Granados). He was a proud grandfather to Marita Rand and Adiela Rand, and stepfather to Stephanie Archambault-Rodriguez, Joseph Archambault, and Rebecca Dougherty. He is also survived by his brothers, Trent Thisler and Dale Thisler. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Esther.
A memorial service honoring Troy’s life will be held at First Christian Church of Wilton Manors on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. All who knew and loved Troy are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
Troy will be remembered for his strength, humility, and a lifetime spent in service to others. He leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and quiet heroism that will never be forgotten.
