R. Scott Mogavero, 59, of Pompano Beach, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025. He was born in Smithtown, New York, on January 11, 1966, to Jennie Mogavero and the late Robert Mogavero.
Scott was a man of many roles and responsibilities. He devoted 28 years of his life to serving the Town of Davie Fire Rescue Department. Starting his career as a Firefighter, he climbed the ranks with tireless commitment and an unwavering sense of duty. His career path led him through various roles including Driver Engineer, Lieutenant, Captain, and ultimately, Battalion Chief. His deep-rooted passion for his work was evident in all that he undertook, providing mentorship to many and impacting countless lives through his service.
Additionally , Scott served for over 20 years as a volunteer Pension Trustee and Chairman for the Town of Davie Fire Rescue. His timeless efforts and unyielding commitment to his fellow firefighters were a testimony to his selfless nature and his relentless pursuit of justice and equality.
Scott was a beloved family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Jacqui, and his devoted sons, Nick and Drew. He is also survived by his mother, Jennie Mogavero, and his sisters, Laura Brownell (Rusty) and Christina Fridley, along with numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Robert Mogavero, his grandparents, George & Carmela Napolitano, and his father-in-law, Michael Brown.
Scott's life was an embodiment of service and dedication, both to his family and to his community. His loss will reverberate through the hearts of those he served and those he loved. Though we mourn the loss of Scott today, we celebrate the life he led, the people he touched, and the difference he made. His memory will continue to ignite the path of service and dedication he so beautifully paved. As we navigate this time of sorrow, we find comfort in the knowledge that his spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the community he served.
