The bonds he shared with those around him leave a lasting impression that will not be forgotten.
Nathan Butler, affectionately known as Nate, passed away in Miami on August 22, 2026, after a long battle with cancer, with his family at his side. He was born on April 2, 1959, in Fort Lauderdale.
Mr. Butler retired from the City of Fort Lauderdale Fire Department, where he was a loved and respected member of the department. His years of service reflected dedication to his work and to the community he served, and he will be remembered with admiration by those who knew him through his career and throughout his life.
He is survived by his siblings, Jacqueline Gamble and Felicia Houston; and by his in-laws, William Gamble and Alexander Houston. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews, Nicole Houston, Tabitha Foster, Vance Houston, Fred Gamble, and Brandon Thomas. Cherishing his memory as well are Jasmine, Mariah,Carmen, Breunna, Branariya, Braelyn, Great Nephews: Kolby Houston, Kross White, Brandon, Brayden, Baileyand his aunt and uncles, Emma Bryant, John Palmer, and Marion Palmer, God Mother: Aire Jones, God Brother: Tom Lofton, God Daughter: Demie Swinson, Great God Daughter: Emmie Swinson.He was preceded in death by his parent, Nathan Sr. and Pauline J. Butler along with Chimere Gamble.
Nathan will be remembered with love by his family and with deep respect by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life, his service, and the bonds he shared with those around him leave a lasting impression that will not be forgotten.
Visitation will be held on August 31, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at First Christian Church of Wilton Manors, 2725 NE 14th Ave, Wilton Manors, FL 33334. A funeral service will take place on September 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at First Christian Church of Wilton Manors, 2725 NE 14th Ave, Wilton Manors, FL 33334. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3201 NW 19 Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311.
