James Edgar “ Jim “ Russell was born on December 26, 1943. He passed away in Hospice on October 27, 2023.  Jim was the son of the late Eddie and Mae Russell, and is survived by his devoted and loving life partner of 24 years, Suzanne Dickens, his sister, Glenda Connolly, her husband, Bruce Connolly, and Jim’s beloved niece, Carey Connolly, her husband, John, and their three children, his great nephews, Grady, Wesley, and Dustin.  

 

Jim was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, and in 1957 moved with the family to Ft. Lauderdale. Jim is a second generation native Floridian. He graduated from Central Catholic High School, now St. Thomas Aquinas, Florida Atlantic University, and was first in his class at the esteemed Wharton School of Business. 

 

Jim’s career was in the field of Employee Benefits, Risk Management, and Insurance. He ended his career as an Independent Consultant, after several years at both Traveler’s Insurance Co and Fred S. James Agency.  

 

Jim was a philanthropic person who loved all nature especially the ocean, beach walks, fishing and shell seeking. He volunteered in many local elder care endeavors including Boca Helping Hands, Mae Vollen and Hospice. 

 

Jim was in the Army and served in Germany for four years. He will be interred at the National Veteran’s Cemetery in Lake Worth on his birthday, December 26th, 2023 at 10:00 am.
