With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Doris Marie Weaver, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of everyone she met. Known affectionately as "Marie" by family and friends, and lovingly called "Mama" by those closest to her, she embodied strength, resilience, and a boundless capacity for love.Marie was born in Martinsville, Indiana, as one of three triplets to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Morris and was considered a miracle child. She was preceded in death by her cherished sisters Virginia Lee and Barbara Etoile (Will). Marie was also blessed with an adopted sister, Ethel Shepherd; an adopted brother, O.J. Simpson, a preacher in Indiana who held a special place in her heart; and an adopted mother, Ellen Simpson, who lovingly raised her.Marie’s family includes both biological and adopted relatives. Her legacy lives on through her five children, thirteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren:- **Rebecca "Becky" Marie Weaver** of Fort Lauderdale, supported and loved by her soon-to-be husband, Pablo Lopez - Grandchildren: Alex Howard, Destiny Howard, Angelina Featherston- **Sharon Marquis (née Weaver)** and her husband, Victor - Grandchildren: Victoria Ketchum, Rachel McGuin, Jazzy Marquis - Great-grandchild: Lucas (Victoria’s son)- **Robert Weaver** - Grandchildren: Kyle Richey, Danielle Richey, Robert Weaver- **Jerry Mattox**, father of the late Michael Mattox - Michael’s children: Mikel Mattox, Klair Mattox, Kairi Mattox - Michael’s children’s mother, Ellen, who continues to raise the children - Jerry’s daughters: Heather Mattox, Chelsea Mattox- **Kevin Weaver** and his wife, Kate - Grandchild: Adina Weaver - Great-grandchild: Lorelai (Adina’s child)Marie was preceded in death by her devoted husband of over 30 years, Robert Weaver, a World War II veteran, who passed away in 1995, and by her grandson Michael Mattox. Her family—totaling five children, thirteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren—continues to honor her memory and the enduring love she imparted.Marie passed away peacefully at her home on August 20, 2024, at 7:00 PM. Her strength and grace during her health challenges were an inspiration to all who knew her. Her daughter Becky, along with Pablo and their extended family, provided unwavering support, ensuring Marie was surrounded by love in her final days.Marie’s Christian faith was a cornerstone of her life. Growing up, she attended church daily and continued to attend intermittently as an adult. After moving to Florida about ten years ago, she began attending Potential Church regularly until health issues made it difficult for her to continue in person. Despite this, she remained spiritually connected by watching services online.In Florida, Marie discovered new joys in life. For the first time, she experienced the beauty of the beach and embraced the warmth and freedom of coastal living. These new experiences brought her immense happiness and fulfillment.Marie’s love for sunflowers, her favorite flower, exemplified her appreciation for life's simple joys. She also enjoyed country music, dancing, and cooking, which brought her comfort and happiness. As she ascends to heaven, we take solace in knowing she is now embraced by the love of those who have gone before her.Though Marie has left this world, her spirit remains deeply connected to her family and all who were fortunate to know her. Her memory will be cherished, her wisdom honored, and her love felt for years to come. Her loved ones will always hold her close in their hearts.Marie will be laid to rest on Labor Day, Monday, September 2, 2024, at the National Veterans Cemetery in Palm Beach County, Florida. Her service will honor her with a veteran’s casket adorned with American flags, reflecting her pride and respect. The casket will be beautifully illuminated, symbolizing the light she brought into our lives. She will be dressed in a white dress, ruffle socks, and hair bows with pearls, accompanied by a meaningful blanket. Her daughter Becky will wear a matching cross necklace, symbolizing their unbreakable bond.

Marie was cared for at Edward’s Funeral Home in Fort Lauderdale until her burial. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate her remarkable life and lasting legacy. Those wishing to honor her memory are encouraged to contribute sunflowers or other personal tributes reflecting her love for the outdoors.
