Dana Coy Campo

January 14, 1960 — October 23, 2015

Dana Coy Campo, a longtime resident of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, died on Oct. 23rd at the young age of 55. Dana was born on Jan. 14, 1960 in Norwalk, Ct. to John and Barbara Campo (nee Flewwellin), and lived in Westport, CT until the age of 5, when her family moved to Miramar, Florida. She had 2 major passions in life; a love of the sea and a deep love and respect for animals. Dana was an accomplished horsewoman at a young age and rode competitively on her American Saddlebred horse, Flashing Secret. She worked as an assistant for veterinarians, and always had at least 1 dog and a cat, often more, of her own. Her animals were often rescues from shelters. The last love of her life was Sunny Boy, a young double merle Australian Shepherd who was born both deaf and blind. He is pictured with Dana. She was deeply committed to training Sunny Boy to help enable him to negotiate his world. She also had 2 cats, Foo Falla and Cleo. Dana was happiest when she was a sea captain taking clients out for a day of fishing. She adored nothing more than the salt sea air and the wind in her hair. In addition to her friends, Dana leaves behind her mother, Barbara Flewwellin, of Rockledge, FL., a brother, John Campo, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, 3 sisters - Debra Singleton and Jade Hobson of Wilton, CT and Juanita Simmons of NYC. In accordance with Dana’s wishes, she will be cremated and part of her cremains will be scattered at sea. The remaining cremains will be buried at Lauderdale Memorial Park next to her beloved father, John L. Campo on Wednesday Nov. 4, 2015, 2:00PM Arrangements entrusted to Edwards Cremation & Funeral Services, Wilton Manors, Online condolences can be shared at edkalis.com
