Mrs. Jeanne Goldsborough “Skipper” Smith, 85, went to her heavenly home Saturday night, May 30, 2015 after being surrounded by family. Skipper was born in Westchester, PA and lived in Smyrna, and Rehobeth Beach, DE where she married her devoted husband, Ray E. Smith. They moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1958. Skipper worked for Hollywood Moving and Storage for twenty-five years, then as a secretary for the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale. She joined SunTrust Bank as a receptionist in the Trust Department and later was a representative in the Marketing Department where she retired fifteen years later. Skipper was an active member of the Executive Assistants of the Executives Association of Fort Lauderdale. She was loved and admired by all. Skipper was preceded in death by her husband, Ray and is survived by her four children: G. Michael (Jean) Smith, Storey S. (Robert) Summerville, Sydney G. Smith and J. Hunter (Susan) Smith; seven grandchildren: Kaitlyn Smith, Amanda Smith, Ashley (Sam) Nehme, Renee Hinson-Smith, Travis (Sherry) Smith, Robin (Gilbert) Hernandez and Shannon Stehmeier; eleven great grandchildren: Aryana Nehme, Hailey Smith, Sammy Nehme, Chelsea Smith, Summer, Kimi and Taylor Stehmeier and Jillian, Jordan, Andy and Greg Milopoulos Jr. and numerous extended family and friends. On behalf of our family we want to thank Holy Cross Hospital especially the Rehab Therapists, Dr. Wald, the Nursing and Hospice staff for their loving care and dedication. We are very grateful to the staff at Independence Hall where under the guidance of Lori Musto, Skipper received the utmost care and attention. She found a loving extended family there. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 2nd at 5:00 PM in the Chapel at Holy Cross Hospital. Instead of flowers please feel free to contribute to the Holy Cross “in-patient rehab unit renovation” or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Edwards Cremation & Funeral Services, Wilton Manors. On line condolences can be shared at edkalis.com.
